i don't want to deny that this sucks and that action is appreciated, but as a trans person living in ohio I'd like to be very clear about what this entails, because specificity is often very useful!
- the changes to 5122-14-12 specifically entails that "in-patient psychiatric service providers" cannot start patients under the age of 21 on HRT, which I imagine is meant to tie into
- 5122-26-19, part C of which would mean that patients under 21 would need "comprehensive mental health evaluation and counseling over a period of not less than six months" before being able to diagnose or treat a "gender-related condition" or "provide gender transition services".
- 5122-26-19, part B has a different set of restrictions for all adults/Anyone seeking trans-related care, which requires your doctor's office to have:
- a contractual relationship with a psychiatrist
- a contractual relationship with an endocrinologist
- a "written, comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care plan" that "has been reviewed by a medical ethicist" and includes both informed consent and "A detailed plan of action for patients seeking to detransition."
