Oh HELL yes, that stuff is so good. I used to be able to get it at saar's before the one in my area closed in 2022, now I've been cruelly forced to do without.
I can only find the kind in 2 liter bottles now and it isn't as yummy as the gubernija kind
It's both oddly good and bothersome at the same time for me lmao. I can see acquiring a taste for it, but I think my body really doesn't want to drink it since I don't do soda.
It's definitely an acquired taste, and I acquired it by getting a dozen cans so I could bring it to people and say "look at this weird bread soda! Try it with me!" Over and over again with family and coworkers. To me this flavor is what I imagined beer would taste like, when I was a child. I can see it not being your jam if you don't like carbonated drinks though.
I used to have a book of recipes of DIY beer and wine from the 70s, and it had a recipe for "Russian black bread wine" in it which I am pretty certain is for this drink. It would have a tiny bit of alcohol from the fermentation but not bubbles.. I want to try it!
Kinda like Willy Wonka's 5-meal gum. The flavor changes every couple seconds. It's overall sweet with a bread-ish finish. It's weird and leaves you questioning. It's fine but my non-soda body didn't want to drink it either.
Also got better as it became warm, being out overnight. 😆

Do these last? The sticker on the can warning that there's no preservatives made me think not.
It shouldn't last, no. It's not ancient though, just about two months old.
Since i stopped adding sugar to my coffee i mostly got rid of sweet cravings and just forgot i still got that last can of kwas there.
