I'd honestly say it's the most important thing? The world of Friendship Valley is surreal and painful, designed deliberately to make everyone feel too old and too young at the same time. Everybody born into our world is in some way traumatized; everybody born into that world is traumatized and bewildered. Conveying that honestly through game mechanics means taking every character and simultaneously showing the way they hurt others/themself and why they act that way. You can't fix everyone (debatably, you can't fix anyone) but you can gain understanding and make peace.
So basically every fave is problematic, especially the main character, but that's what makes them fun to write so w/e
