In Philadelphia, Ultimo Coffee is the subject of a boycott by Philly Workers United. Workers there have been unsuccessfully negotiating with the eponymous Ultimo family for over a year—the chain originally unionized in late 2022.1 Workers at the chain have also approved a strike action which might also be taken in conjunction with the boycott, but as of this moment they have not walked out. They're hoping the boycott will be sufficient to force a resolution to negotiations.
Local 80 is suggesting, while the boycott takes place, that you instead patronize these three shops under them:
- Vibrant Coffee: 222 W. Rittenhouse Sq.
- Elixr Coffee: 207 Sydenham St.
- Reanimator Coffee: 1248 S. Clarion St.
