hi, long time fan from "this makes me hit the desk" and i just wanna say you're doing great, still love it after all these years, keep up the good work
(puts on nerd glasses) um acktually you cannot assign to a void pointer, it is of an incomplete type, you need to cast it to a pointer to an integer type if you want to write to it with random numbers like described,
you write one malloc() for your computer systems class and one pagetable for your OS class and suddenly you can't write normal code anymore its all void*s pointing to void*s
