I'm a Vietnamese cis woman born and currently living in the U.S. You may know me from Sandwich, from Twitter or Mastodon (same username), or on Twitch as Sharkaeopteryx. I do not have a Discord or Bluesky account.

Ask me about language learning/teaching, cooking/eating food, late diagnosis ADHD, and volunteer small business mentoring. Or don't, I'm not the boss of you.

I think people deserve to be young, make mistakes, and grow without being held to standards they don't know about yet and are still learning. So, if you are under 22, please don't try to strike up a friendship or get involved in discussions on my posts.

Please don't automatically assume I follow/know/co-sign someone just because I reposted something from them—sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Also, if you think being removed as a follower when we're not mutuals is a cardinal sin, please do not follow me.

Thanks CDC for abandoning the working class. (sarcasm)

Look, I don't expect the CDC to care about disabled people as Marta Russell pointed out capitalists need disabled people to be unemployed or under-employed and to remain impoverished in order to threaten the working class into staying compliant.

But bloody, you would think the CDC would have the foresight to think a bit further ahead about potential labour shortages (linking to an archived copy of an article from The Guardian because the publication has a track record of transantagonism).

If the actual goal were increasing the effortless action of improvements to everyone's lives - that is, "productivity," - then, well, as you say. Therefore we must conclude that the goal is not that - indeed, is often opposed to that. It's not even maximum profit - it's maximum control over profit. Maximum private enclosure. Maximum rent gathered on the work of others. Even at the expense of reducing how much work there is to tax, how many others there are to rule. It's a system which creates as its main output despair, and therefore despair is its purpose. To kill our souls and make robots of us. And not the fun way.

Okay, tbf I didn't even know that Disability day of mourning was even a thing, so I don't think the CDC dropped this on this day as an act of malice. It's still an incredibly shitty thing to do and I agree with that "fuck the CDC" is indeed warranted.

Yeah, it's more of a knife-twisting than anything else. At first, I was trying to think like a capitalist, like how the CEO of Nintendo chose to cut half of his salary during the industry-wide layoffs which the decision kind of makes sense given Nintendo is one of the oldest companies in the world. And how social democracies only really exist (videos are not captioned) to prevent communist revolutions going into full swing.

I don't think the CDC knew that March 1st was also the first day of Long COVID Awareness Month since Google doesn't return a lot of results on that either; March 15th for Long COVID Awareness Day showed up more frequently. Only found out about Long COVID Awareness Month through keyword search on social media for "Disability Day of Mourning".
