a series of competitive brushing techniques engineered to make your cat, like, really really soft. softmaxxing influencers will upload videos outlining their arsenal of cat brushes and the order in which you use them for the desired goal of Maximum Cat Softness. local softmaxxing meetup groups will have contests to determine the softest cat (everyone wins). someone gets outed and ran out of the community when it is revealed they don't brush their cat at all and the cat is just soft by default
