here are two reasons april fools sucks, there are more out there, but here are the two I'm thinking about right now:
number one it's a day for the most deeply unfunny, wannabully, attention-seeking (derogatory) types to crawl out of their little holes where nobody thinks they're funny the rest of the year either and jeer at people for not being "vigilant" enough not to get got by whatever unoriginal sludge prank they've come up with as a substitute for being valued and appreciated by real people*
number two we have been living in a hellscape where additional nightmares are being unleashed daily based on fooling the gullible into believing bullshit, having a day to teehee haha about people not being skeptical enough is more of a slap in the face than anything else
I was going to end by saying one reason april fools can be okay is when people do things like make lighthearted things that actually exist and are genuine, silly, and actually fun. But realistically, without april fools you could just do that anytime and it would still be fun and nice. But for the first two things I mentioned, without april fools they would still be bad.
*I don't have April fool's trauma, I am just an Old and Tired Of This Bullshit
