It's totally okay if you never played the original games. They are old by now, and they're pretty dated in their own way; even going back to them to try them in this day and age is a challenge and a bit of a chore, don't get me wrong. But... please. Tall child. This is a subject that stretches beyond your experience.
what, are they back to their old "go jump down the instant death hole and come back and we'll consider your application" hijinks?
to be honest the way they've (accidentally?) been going "this is a different chapter, there was a schism and they split off" through the franchise means they can write the BoS more or less however they want as long as there's power armour and blaming the USA's irresponsible use of tech for the war
