note: i started this post may 3rd 😅 so im publishing it in its unfinished glory so i can start to make updates to it
i'm super excited (i even made like a real meal so i'd be able to focus longer!) and i have a very broad idea of what i want to do and hope that going to the jam kickoff tonight will help a little more.
i'm gonna use this little space to take notes/make observations/etc. and so i can look back at it when the jam ends!
worries:
- i have at least three other projects i want to work on/submit and time tends to get away from me especially depending on health/mood changes (as evidenced in the last month)
- i tend to want things finished but i don't want to stress myself out i want to have fun!
- i'm generally always anxious about creating anything that can be shared because of being targeted in the past, but i want to push through that.
delights:
- the community has been really helpful and very supportive of lurking/spectating (how do you say hi i cannot super guarantee the time/work i can do cause disability and that will also make it super tricky to even communicate with me because what even is proper social etiquette but also let's do this and have fun?)
and here we go. so it's been a couple of days and im still working on.....everything. the shape of the game is kind of getting itself together these are the things im telling future self we've updated on:
- YOU ARE USING REN'PY DO NOT TRY TO GET FANCY WITH ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL YOU HAVE PUT THE WHOLE THING IN REN'PY I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT
- i have the majority of sprites from a free resource (i have the source for it in a folder, but if i move from this post, i will forget to return jokes on me i forgot to return) and have tested that + one background i made in canva and they fit into ren'py just fine ///// this is from today (7th) why do i want to use a different resource NO
- i had an idea, whil washing dishes, of something that might fit the theme better but i am trying to integrate that idea into what i already have so i'm not just starting from scratch and also cause i know i don't have enough knowledge to implement that yet, and i'd rather have like a prototype that i can work on later instead of vague attempts at learning a new program that never see the light of day
- have re-installed stimuwrite 2 because i missed that there's a recovery option and so i can. live in less fear of losing my work cause stimuwrite 2 is THAT GIRL and helped me write a lot last year
- will be able to focus more after i turn in my submission for another game jam (im using twine to draft and hopefully learning decker to release, trying to give myself til wednesday so i just do the thing)
