I'm a Vietnamese cis woman born and currently living in the U.S. You may know me from Sandwich, from Twitter or Mastodon (same username), or on Twitch as Sharkaeopteryx. I do not have a Discord or Bluesky account.

Ask me about language learning/teaching, cooking/eating food, late diagnosis ADHD, and volunteer small business mentoring. Or don't, I'm not the boss of you.

I think people deserve to be young, make mistakes, and grow without being held to standards they don't know about yet and are still learning. So, if you are under 22, please don't try to strike up a friendship or get involved in discussions on my posts.

Please don't automatically assume I follow/know/co-sign someone just because I reposted something from them—sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Also, if you think being removed as a follower when we're not mutuals is a cardinal sin, please do not follow me.

LUNAR BOY IS NOW AVAILABLE WHEREVER AMERICAN BOOKS ARE SOLD

And it's a book that makes history! One of my biggest struggles with making this book is not having anyone like me in the industry (of American trad pub) to turn to who was making an escapist queer fantasy based in Indonesian culture. So I realized I had to be that person for someone else.

Lunar Boy is a coming of age graphic novel about big changes, culture shock, and discovering what it means to belong. If that sounds like something you'd be into, please give it a look and tell a friend about it.

As is tradition we've whipped out the Nasi Kuning variant of Tumpeng to celebrate good fortune for Lunar Boy! Also there's a cake version of the book, unfortunately it will not be sold in stores so don't eat the book if you see it. It's probably not a cake.

If you see my book in the wild, please take a pic and send it my way! I've always wanted to see my own book in a store, but it's really hard to get international books in Indonesian stores- so it might be a while before I get to see that.

Fingers crossed they get their batch soon!

So you can mix and match the yellow rice combination with whatever surrounds it. the peanut parts are a mix of tempe, sambal, bits of fish and of course peanuts.
