Video games need as much modding support and customizability as possible for the inevitable outcome that they will die after several years, months, weeks, days, etc.

Having a bunch of options and settings for players to tinker with. Providing easy modding tools for ease of creation. Map creators so people can make their own realms. Character creation and/or customization. Tutorials, guides, documentation, about how the game works and how to play it. Providing the source code for everyone to keep.

Bonus points if you've got an indie/open source game on your hands. That's almost guaranteed to die out quick. Shoutout to the devs who do this anyways, even though it might seem like a fruitless task.

if you want modding support and everything listed above play gmod but for the games your discussing i think its good that they can have their time in the sun before you move on and play something else as there are thousands of games out there and i find more often than not people have tons of untouched games that will stay untouched if they continue playing the same games and it can be nice to switch things up.

what you stated is great but i feel like gmod and minecraft and a lot of other games have already achieved so i think the current customisability of games is fine honestly and if you want that just play those games.

just like everything its gotta end eventually and sure you may want to play more but there could be another game like it out there or you could always replay the game on a different difficulty or install mods or something

I feel like there's already too much games and since its a creative medium it will just continue to get worse and i will have to accept more and more that i wont be able to play all the games i want to.

games are gonna keep releasing untill gaming dies and even when it does we will have enough games already to keep us entertained for our entire lives so pushing for more value on a game that already has a fair amount of content seems absurd to me.

i feel like a lot of people now keep asking for more content and forget to be greatfull for the content they have, such as people asking for more characters in street fighter and complaining about the roster being small while i struggle to play all the characters i want to play in a single play session currently with the base roster

to me dlc just seems like a nice addition rather than a necessity

sorry for rambling but hopefully you see where im coming from right?
