Doing some research for what the ALTA railway timetables might look like, I found the cream of the crop for 1967-9.
Railroads were struggling pretty bad by then, but their graphic design departments were in FULL FORCE redesigning them from the more traditional/staid looking ones similar to the Orange/Green Great Northern "Empire Builder" design upper left into something cleaner.
Oh if only the incredible graphic design could have saved north American rail from the automobile disasters
...and saved them from:
-Incursion of propliner regional airlines -Jets like the 737/727/707 for long haul/transcon flights -Automobiles & Trucking -Themselves, by providing crap service purposely to drive away ridership to cancel trains to save money (despite many routes being break even or profitable) -Cooking their own books to make it SEEM as pax service was losing money (looking at you Burlington Route) -Billions of dollars for interstate highways & airports.
Are you planning on scanning these or anything? I'm definitely curious to see the CN and CP schedules from back then.
Clean scans of these exist online, all of these are just image saves off eBay. Type in "Canadian Pacific Timetable" and you'll get tons of results, with surprisingly large images. Also check out internet archive.
