It severely hurt someone's feelings who was trying to engage with (and mostly agreed with) your points.
Does it really? Who. It's weird to get that hurt over something like this I hope they're okay
Ah, I didn't see that because they have apparently blocked me. I recall they were already very upset about me criticizing the dice rolling in Lancer and PBTA not always being as fun at the beginning of a campaign. I'm not sure it's healthy for a stranger to be so invested in my experiences playing Lancer at level 0
They weren’t “very upset,” they said they were “chafing a little.” About a topic they have extensive knowledge and passion for, which is pretty normal.
They’re not upset that you have opinions about the games you’ve played. They were upset that you trashed what they believed to be a good-faith conversation about a topic they have a keen interest in.
You don’t have to like, do anything or apologize. What’s done is done, we’re all strangers to each other here. But turning a potentially fruitful conversation into a copypasta shitpost came across as a very pointed and deliberate “fuck you I don’t care.”
I mean, I'm going off of what you said. You're the one who wrote "severely hurt."
There was certainly productive conversations with a few people. There was also hordes of people in my notifications who seemed genuinely angry that I have fun playing a game they don't like.
They weren’t severely hurt until AFTER their response was reblogged with copypasta. Prior to that they just wanted to talk about dice mechanics and ludonarrative and wanted to challenge one of your points.
I’m sorry your post got mobbed by cranky assholes, really. I get it and might have done something similar if I was getting overwhelmed. You can do whatever you need to to stick a fork in a post that’s causing you annoyance. This particular instance happened to sting someone who thought they were having a normal, respectful conversation and agreeing with your initial point by expanding on it.
An unfortunate aspect of social media is I am not having a one on one conversation with one chill person but rather a gazillion shit is happening at once
I saw that, realized what was happening, and loved it
