just imagining what a live love honk performance would be like

Imagine all the other band members trying to focus and play through a blaring car horn and hope they’re maybe heard by at least some of the audience

Love this image.

It's a garage show. The band is in the garage, the audience is standing in the driveway. The car is parked on the street behind the audience. As far as the audience can tell, there is no one inside it, despite its reliably honking when the performance requires.

Similar, but a variation. The band isn't trying to work around the horn, nor is the horn intermittent. It's constant and overpowering, and the band just has to survive.

If they're smart, with good ear protection.

World's worst metronome! Thinking about it now, I'm glad all the band directors stuck to just banging their stick on their music stand while glaring at us because we couldn't pay enough attention to keep in time without him banging out the beat instead of bringing in a car alarm to keep us in time...
