Watching the first episode of Doctor Who Series 5 because I haven’t revisited it since I first watched it as a teenager and wow none of this feels the same as an adult this is sooooo uncomfortable. The first thing the eleventh doctor immediately upon existing is being entitled and bossy to a little girl and making her cook food for him that he yells at her for being terrible. Ooof

The threat to the planet was the space cops destroying earth but then the space cops leave so like why do we need to get in touch with the space cops? Ugh the writing sucks so much none of these Big Moments land at all it’s sooooo self serious. Why are these space cops so stupid that they can’t figure out that the shapeshifter is the one that’s a duplicate of an unconscious person isn’t that obvious?

I'm currently trying to watch Day of the Doctor and Heaven Sent on recommendation by friends and... I cannot. there's so many little moffat-isms that just get in the way for me. and large moffat-isms too.

The foreshadowing feels a lot less cool when you know the resolution is some Dumb Bullshit that exploits grandfather paradoxes to recurse infinitely so that Moffat doesn't actually have to explain anything.

When they were airing I forced myself to keep watching until the series 6 finale but series 7 was where I fell off. I think when the new companion happened I tried getting back into it specifically for the 50th anniversary special and seeing matt smith die but it still sucked and then i didn't even bother keeping up with it until it was confirmed moffat would be leaving

if you'd like to double down on just how fucked up that is, you should hear moffat's defense of it. he totally blames karen gillan for all of it despite their being official record of him stating that he thought she was "too dumpy" when he was showed her head shots and immediately going, 'nope, she's sexy enough' as soon as he saw her in person. moffat is just such a shitty person.
