Can’t believe Steven Moffat said that Northern Ireland will still be a part of the UK in the 29th century
This episode has such atrocious pacing it’s such a disaster and every characters action make you ask “how could they really be this stupid?” And “why is that the solution this society came to? Really?”
But the stupidest part is when this secret service cop rotates his head to reveal the dumb doll face and Amy says “How can he be a Smiler?” When not one character has used the term Smiler or talked about them the entire episode and then the Doctor says “half-Smiler half-Human” as if that explains fucking anything at all and then later on the minister of information or whoever says “The Smilers, the Winders, all of us…” once again like, the Winders? Who? This has never been mentioned at all. There was no set-up for this payoff.
The queen running around wearing a mask perfectly sculpted to her face thinking nobody would recognize her wearing a mask of her own face is also so incredibly stupid especially when obviously MI5 or whoever is watching the queen at all times you doofus how can you really be that stupid?!
There’s a lot of potential with the episode but it’s just soooooo poorly executed like you have to actually do world building and set things up to have payoff.
Also again the crack in the wall is so much worse than Bad Wolf because they do dramatic zoom ins to make sure that you notice it so it’s not subtle at all or some kind of mysterious Easter egg to wonder about like we all see exactly what it is and there’s no way to solve it any sooner than when we’re told the answer. Bad Wolf was something you probably wouldn’t notice was in every episode so when Rose remembers it all you’re like whaaaat omg you’re so right Rose that was in every episode!!! We all see the crack immediately so it adds nothing
