The biggest recurring thing with Moffat is scenes that aren’t earned. So many moments that just don’t land because they were never properly set up. The Doctor suddenly telling Rory “I need you beside me” isn’t earned when they have never been anything but competitive and combative until now. It’s just that again and again. You can’t have pay off without set up
