I really liked Book Lovers and I think Emily Henry accidentally wrote autistic characters. Beach Read is fun but damn these characters are so neurotypical they read so much into everything which I think is also because they’re authors but also like girl he got an important phone call at a bad time that doesn’t like completely negate the fact that he just confessed he’s had a crush on you since college like sheesh chill out. Also it’s so interesting just seeing how very very differently they think about sex compared to me

A character excitedly infodumps about cool rocks and the narration doesn’t give us the infodump and says everyone’s eyes glazed over and they tuned out

What is wrong with you people. Give me the infodump about rocks PLEASE at every party I am looking for the person will infodump to me about rocks

This annoys me about a lot of video games, too. It's so assumed the player doesn't care that it's more common for someone who wants to share their expertise to be a punchline than to actually learn something about why this person needed 10 rocks for their research. Tell me about the damn rocks!

It's particularly weird when it happens in FFXIV because they put a ton of care into the world and the finer details of aetherology are major plot points. Stop acting like I don't care about the game I'm playing.
