I’m not a transmedicalist I don’t care if you change your body I’m a trans solidarityist if you’re actively anti-trans and perpetuating transphobia then I don’t care if you yourself are also trans I won’t claim you. I’m saying choose a side. Similar to how I don’t care if a log cabin republican is gay. Like sure whatever maybe you’re sucking cock but I wouldn’t say you’re in our community or a part of it right? I couldn’t claim you. You clearly didn’t choose us so I won’t choose you.
And if you think I’m talking about you then like ask yourself if you are “a transphobe with no trans friends who does not side with trans rights and actively attacks us” because if that’s not you then I don’t think my stance is as invalidating as you think it is. Like if you’re not Cathy Brennan or her liberal counterpart then it’s not about you and you should ask yourself why you think you have more in common with Cathy Brennan than a transsexual
christian guilt is obsessed with the idea that your actions stain you. that doing a wrong thing changes you fundamentally. much has been said about this.
self-loathing doesnt have to look like actively hating oneself. it can, and frequently does, look like murderous apathy to your own type of whatever.
anyone can fuck. few can love. i resist identity-as-aesthetic for this reason. human beings, tool apes, evolved as social creatures, so we require identity in community. you are what you are, but that is only important to me if you want to tell me about it. i am much more interested in where your roots are, who you love, and what drives you. the things that bind you to the world. everything else is words.
as an aside, i strongly and particularly denounce the sort of people who use this line to get to "therefore racism isnt real" as rules lawyering psychic aggressors on behalf of the occupation. they wish to further crimes against humanity by ignoring them. this does not, to put it gently, create the optimal circumstances in which to build a truly equitable and mutually enriching humanwide relationship. these people are individualist wreckers whether they mean to or not.
i simply want to know how to call you, and the rest is your business to share or not. we could all do with fewer ideas about each other, and i truly believe hypersegmentation, taken as a material basis instead of like, a clan name or whatever, ultimately results in more conflict and misunderstanding and is in turn itself caused by a broad societal expectation to apologize for yourself by making yourself documentable and countable and consumable by interrogating your needs. if knowledge is power then it is also sometimes violent to know things about people, something that anyone who has been psychologically abused can tell you.
speak for yourself. by listening find your people. stop trying to eat the world and respect the inverse square law as it comes to your efforts. having opinions about people based on immaterial ideas is the first step to thinking you have good reason to subordinate them
