if you're a developer and you've ever required the usage of the phone for any reason then fuck you
if you as a developer require the use of a phone to access a service or use an app in any way, i want to hit you with a hammer repeatedly and scream

this post was born primarily out of a frustration with having to use a device which causes intense flareups of pain, and is super slow and bad because of planned obsolescence, and is now seemingly refusing to receive text messages so i can't sign into something i really need to
but also there was a period of my life where i just couldn't afford my own phone, my badly-behaved dad was paying for it, so my access to vital stuff which required phone numbers was at the mercy of my dad, who frequently held his financial control of me as a threat
that combined with me just being very clumsy (possibly cause autism) and very prone to breaking things meant that i felt like i was in such a precarious position every time something required my phone number. i had intense anxiety that my phone would be damaged or just die (which it eventually did) and i wouldn't be able to access important things anymore (which i eventually was), or that i would lose my phone number after my dad got too angry at me (which thankfully didn't happen)
but like it's also very stressful knowing that i can never change my phone number now even if i need to, because changing my phone number would lock me out of almost every important service
this phone shit is just bad in so many ways and impacts so many people, for so many reasons
And every day at work people come in with situations very similar to this making them unable to easily use or access a phone and it's so frustrating.
And if you try to use a SIP number so you can forward calls to other numbers or check texts on a website or app, half of the services will detect that it isn't a "real" phone number and refuse to take it, so even then you end up with a handful that require your direct cell number, and you don't remember which ones in case you need to change it
