Anyway I have no idea why ddg decided to send me to Czech wikipedia instead of English this time. I don't actually remember the first Tony Hawk's game I just remember playing the sequel on N64 though mostly it wasn't me playing I was just watching older kids play it.
When you think about it, Let's Plays are just an evolution of younger siblings watching their older siblings play video games. Nothing novel about it. Only now, people who aren't younger siblings are appropriating the practice from younger siblings, mainstreaming it, and washing it clean of its radical and liberatory components. The capitalist machine takes everything into its school house rock great american melting pot and strips it clean of revolution. Capitalist Realism infiltrates and gives to the older siblings that which the younger siblings invented with the sweat of their palms and the grease off their eyebrows.
