I assume "Malort" is the Chicago-dialect equivalent to "Alhamdulillah" or "Thank God"

my reaction was smth like "this tastes like axle grease"

There's a reason that "Malört face" is a thing. Fun fact, it was made to be a drink cigar smokers could actually taste. 😵‍💫
