I ADORE the Fatal Frame series.
Weirdly, most of the survival horror classics attempted to create an Eastern interpretation of Western horror, but Fatal Frame has always been unapologetically Japanese. Taking Japan's unique blends of Buddhism and Shinto, the series creates incredibly cruel, bleak, but also heartfelt stories centered around gruesome rituals which serve as the only protection from Hell spilling out into the real world.
Ironically, I've never actually finished any of these games, and I've never started 1 nor 3. While I know some story basics, I'm going into this one blind.
