welp... it was a beautiful dream. i'm glad we gave it a shot

cohost has been my favorite site for just talking to people for a while now. beyond fun ideas like the support for html crimes and the artist alley and whatnot, cohost has just been the only place i felt like i could really post nuanced, sincere thoughts without having to worry about drive-by assholes or getting QRTed/reblogged by the wrong person and having my notifications ruined for the next 24 hours. it's a place that feels designed for actual human beings to use to post art and shoot the shit without intentionally aggravating us for engagement. it was nice while it lasted. i'd like to imagine better things are still possible for the internet, but, well, it's tough. we knew this

anyway, other places you can find me if you don't already follow me elsewhere:

  • EDIT 9/25: The Ponett Gazette - my new formal blog, hosted as a side thing on my neocities site. my higher effort cohost posts have been preserved here

  • twitter (@ponettplus) - yes, i am still active on twitter, because it's still where i have the largest audience and where most of my friends are active. we'll see if things continue to get worse over there and i reach my personal breaking point

  • tumblr (ponett) - i am still on tumblr. i never left. i don't post there as often as i used to a decade ago, but i'm still there every day, checking my ask box and reblogging cute art and whatnot. my wordier posts will probably mostly live on tumblr post-cohost

  • bluesky (@ponett.dog) - i assume many of you will be moving to bluesky. i have one, but i still don't really like it yet. it feels like a retirement home for older millennial/gen x resistance liberals, and it's still missing some core features that i really need. also my feed there just isn't very active. we'll see if the impending addition of video support and the cohost user exodus makes it feel more like a viable home on the web for me

  • furaffinity (~ponett) - and as an art gallery, i still have my furaffinity page

  • and also i have some things like a letterboxd and a backloggd and a neocities homepage you can bookmark

i'll be sure to back up any more formal writing i did on here and host it elsewhere so that it isn't lost. beyond that, i'll probably stick around here until it goes read only in october, assuming mutuals keep posting. we'll see
