@Hemlocks and i finished our second game. we made a short horror adventure/point and click game inspired by giallo horror movies. it's about 5 minutes long. i'm so unbelievably proud of all ashley's artwork, they really went above and beyond on this one. hope you enjoy
TWO GAMES IN TWO MONTHS!! I've spent years trying to get any solo projects finished so collaborating with @moonflowers in GB Studio has been a godsend. i'm so tired and so proud of us.
It's a short, weird horror game inspired by Dario Argento and Junji Ito! (a cosmic gumbo if you will) Play the actual gameboy ROM on an emulator if you can, the colors are more vibrant than in the web player.
If you've played our previous arcade mini-game Shoot-Out! (which has just been updated with some QOL fixes, please check it out) then i hope you can see what a huge, huge leap forward this has been for both of us. flower learned so much more about GB Studio and i pushed my own pixel art and use of palettes in a way i hadn't before (definitely never tackled subject matter like this for one thing).
A little more gushing about the project below:
things that would have gotten us stuck for hours or days last time were a breeze, and even though i'd be lying if i said it was all easy (it wasn't all easy) or that there were no compromises (boy were there some compromises) we put out something big and complete and pretty damn polished. i'm incredibly proud of flower's growth on this project.
i had so many things i wanted to say about the art side but i forgot all of it lmao...uhhh fuck making VNs with such huge restrictions on tile usage. oh, i WAS really proud to have figured out how to fake dynamic lighting by swapping sprite palettes! an old trick but a good'n
there are three endings and a few death scenes, but a full playthrough should only take a few minutes -- i really hope you give it a look ๐
