the two major commercial desktop OSes are on track to lose all their general-purpose computing functionality because it's not profitable, and all the users who love them because they're bland and corporate
maybe not for another ten years, but we foresee a day when Linux will be the ONLY desktop OS anyone cares about, and win by default
winning by default, the best way to win
honestly, when things get to that point it'll make us sad... but pleased that at least there will be something
sadly, regrettably, open source evangelists are correct. win does blows and crap is ple
it genuinely used to be the case that microcomputers, even commercial ones, were first and foremost tools for creativity :( it's... we get it, we don't seek to bring back the past, just, we take a moment to mourn
