i am into accessibility and game design. i go by sysopod on other platforms as well

(a marathon of the entire run of teen titans go is airing on cartoon network later this april. this is relevant to the story.)

it was a small room, just me in there, and i was told they would come for me and take me to my room soon and have the doctor talk with me. they had taken my belongings and phone to my room, so i didn't really have anything to do other than watch the tv they had in the waiting room. a tv that was just at the right sort of awkward positioning that sitting on the chairs (which could not be moved) meant having to crane your neck back a bit. it was locked to cartoon network, and the channel could not be changed.

so i watched cartoon network. it was novel, since i didn't have an actual cable tv subscription at the time, so seemed like something to do at least. to my surprise, it was running episodes of teen titans go- i remembered this show from awhile ago (this was 2018, so about 5 years after it first aired apparently) - i didn't realize it was still going. turns out it was going strong! because they were running episodes back to back, with commercials for teen titans go inbetween- and very occasionally a suggestion that at some point there might be other programming maybe.

every once and awhile a nurse would come by and repeat that i'd be moving to my room soon. eventually i started to see repeat episodes of teen titans go. i tried unsuccessfully to will myself to sleep in an uncomfortable chair as the teen titans kept going. as far as i could tell, cartoon network only had teen titans go on for those 8 hours. i guess a marathon would just mean a few less of those mythical other shows- i wouldn't know, i haven't seen cable TV since.

back when my family had cable and Steven Universe was still going at the rate of "like five whole episodes in a week then nothing for months" i very distinctly remember them booking TTG exclusively all day every day from christmas to new years one year, broken up only by the usual nightly adult swim block and two episodes of SU
