a game designer is beefing with jenny nicholson over her starcruiser video and im sorry, but if you're a professional writer or designer, saying a player "played the game wrong" is a baby mentality. not even the same mental framework as a working professional. it doesnt matter if the player is an influencer. the experience broke for her. there's nothing for you to argue with there. that is just data. grow up

I wonder if all this pushback is because they're used to being able to like... give influencers special treatment, ensure they get the "intended experience". Jenny talks in the video about just how different what most Disney Media People got is from what she got.

I truly don't know how you could reasonably beef with her points in the video. Shit just flat wasn't working in a way that couldn't in the slightest be accounted for by "playing the game right" or whatever.

Right, she literally how through the advice of how to play "the right way" from people online and it's all contradictory. If there was some right way to play then it was never communicated clearly, which is still a failure of the designer.

allegedly some games that have overlap with this field! but even if that weren't the case it still wouldn't matter, this is a completely backwards way of thinking about a player's experience with a design

And a decent chunk of the rest of the complaints were "it did the thing it was supposed to do, but that thing was incredibly boring and has been done better in earlier, similar activities"
