I looked into this and it truly just messes with the timing of each of your tracks in post. I hope people do realize you're supposed to make your music feel human... while you're making it

P.S. this is even funnier to me because I came up on music forums in the 00s and besides the classic "analog warmth vs digital", the other constant opinionated conversation was if computer-made music could ever be made to feel human or if music was doomed to be too "stiff". There are more and more amazing ways to avoid "stiffness" as time goes on but this brute-force solution of just fucking time up a little bit is wonderfully stupid.

there's a function like this in Cakewalk (the DAW) that i messed around with while i was writing some songs to see if it would make the handwritten notes sound more natural with the attack and timing and whatnot and it like. just fucks everything up, it sounds very bad.

i ended up just taking the written music and then recording myself playing it on my Casio keyboard rather than just using the pianoroll in the DAW, suddenly sounded so much better
