so there was this trend just recently of "zooming out" classic paintings or photos using generative models. i feel this is a pretty good mirror for this urge to create "more" of a finished piece of art.
i was talking with my partner about this and said "it's like zooming out the Mona Lisa" - which i think makes a good turn of phrase/shorthand for this. "Nah we don't need an Outer Wilds 2. Don't zoom out the Mona Lisa on this."
