I feel like now is as good a time as any to reiterate my political views:
- I think people are obligated to help each other.
There are smarter people than me who are better at explaining a consistent ideology. I'm learning all the time and am open to being educated by people in good faith. That said, if you were to push me to elaborate, it would sound a lot like communism.
Everything else I can think of ties back into this first point. Some examples:
- Trans rights are human rights.
- Minority voices deserve to be boosted.
- Money should be abolished.
- Nobody should be allowed to go without food or shelter.
Obligated is an important distinction. I believe that people should be willing to make sacrifices so that others do not suffer. If everyone did this, we would have a just and equitable society.
I don't know if there is a social mechanism that could make this work. To my understanding though, Cybernetic Marxism comes close.
Part 2
The looming climate crisis has me thinking a lot more militantly, to be honest. Solving it is going to require a kind of cooperation that transcends nation, creed &c and our governments aren't equipped for it. Something has to change. It's probably too late. Assuming it's not too late though, there are some things that have to change now:
- Personal vehicles need to be abolished
- People are going to have to get used to living a lot closer together
- People are going to have to eat a lot more soy
- We need to put a lot more trains on rails
- Consumerism has to end
- A lot of industries are going to have to shut down
- Money needs to be abolished
- And so on
It has to happen. The planet is dying all around us. It's our fault. Capitalism failed before it started.
