god, rich people really are bad at crimes. you see columbo and you're like damn, no one is THAT bad at getting away with murder, and then you read about real life murder cases and you're like damn. guess they are.

There are so many Columbo episodes where the killer would have gotten away with it if he'd just said "No, talk to my lawyer" instead of following Columbo around trying to throw him off the trail

I think it's something like 50% of all murders go unsolved. Obviously there's plenty of murders the police are systemically uninterested in solving, but they're also just fundamentally bad at their job. So yeah smart people definitely get away with murder just by putting a little effort in.

I would simply use radio controlled cars with explosives to murder people while avoiding having starred in a cult classic TV show that the city’s bat-themed superhero is obsessed with.
