i'm pretty sure the actual main reason i tend to not get annoyed at computers not working is because my usually somewhat lacking care instincts kick in and i instead go "it's okay, you're doing your best, take your time dear"

i wonder how you could do a nice middle ground between unique identity and consistency in an OS' UI guidelines/framework
currently there's mostly just two opposing directions, the macOS style where everything is supposed to ideally look like the Apple programs and general macOS UI, and then there's Windows where especially gaming-related software just does its own thing often to disastrous results, Linux being mostly in the macOS direction with either GTK or Qt depending on setup
what i'd love to see is something which combines both, where software looks like it fits the overall vibe and style of the OS, but still gives freedom to do your own unique things with the UI theming and window decorations
kinda like how rack-mounted audio equipment often looks very different but shares the general aesthetic and kinda fits together
