Oh damn, I looked it up, you're probably right. It was a unix-like network/RPC-oriented OS that was likely intended for remote, diskless education stations at colleges, primary and secondary schools. 😅
It was the OS for the NuMachine, an obscure workstation, but the inaugural platform for NuBus, which Apple and NeXT made extensive use of.
TRIX was also an early target for GNU, before Mach (for HURD) and Linux.
