in your view, what change in hardware development could prevent the most e-waste?
make shit out of stamped metal and wires again instead of cost engineering it all to hell in an injection molded plastic case. every old space heater we still get either works or would work if the grease in the motor hadn't dried out, and every new space heater we get just fails to turn on for electronic reasons
bro we gotta get back to fucking big chunky buttons n shit we don't even KNOW how to make half the shit we're making we just gotta hope the computer keeps knowing how to make it

but only if it's free to take these items on an airplane when you're moving internationally. i had to bin most things that weren't injection molded plastic because it was just not feasible to take them with me
comically, I disassembled and "fixed" my space-heater a couple weeks ago... the little plastic thingy holding the "on" button in place over the mechanical switch broke. I rolled up a piece of packing tape to hold the button, instead, and it's good as new! :D
