love that I apparently can't fucking directly send a video from Youtube to my Firestick because I have Youtube open in Firefox, and oooohhh sorrry, "Cast" is a proprietary feature reserved only for Chrome:tm: users. Go fuck yourself and I wish all internet video wasnt shackled to a platform controlled by such petty assholes.

Like. I'm still on your platform. I am casting a video from Youtube (owned by Google) to a Firestick, which will run that video in the Youtube (owned by Google) app. Its simply the fact that I use Firefox to access the Google-owned website, and so because of that sin, Google crosses its arms like a pouty child and refuses to let me do a simple action. God.

in reply to @tercel-enby's post:

You'll need to set up fx_cast to get casting working from Firefox.

Google has over time tried to lock down their Google Cast protocol even more than it already is by being proprietary. CheapCast allowed for turning any Android device into a Chromecast, which stopped working when Google updated the protocol. CastReceiver exists now, which seems to be the Chromecast receiver APK from Android TV with some changes. However it cannot play anything from sources with DRM (most streaming services) and requires buying an IAP for full functionality.
