Jenna Ortega: Listen, it's simple. During the General Crisis of the early 21st Century, most print media was destroyed by extreme weather events, book burning, or light nuclear bombardment. A cocktail of media monopolies, braindead legislation, lethal copyright enforcement and poor corporate custodianship meant that over time, most works - even those formerly in the public domain - ended up locked in a vault somewhere, shelved in favor of an endless stream of AI-generated content. A *digital* vault, that is - so on AZ Day, they went up in smoke along with everything else. Except, that is, for AO3.
Vin Diesel: Wait... The fanfiction website?
Jenna Ortega (eyerolling): We prefer the term 'transformative works'. And nobody calls them 'websites' any more.
