Do not use the largest aperture. that is not actually good.

when you first turn on youtube monetization they should just make you click through a little agreement modal with three checkboxes

☑️ i will set my aperture to at least f/6

☑️ i will set my focus to manual

☑️ i will set up at least one light

i am begging. i want to see more than the tip of your nose in focus

in reply to @cathoderaydude's post:

not my ass yelling at the screen STOP THE CAMERA DOWN AND USE ACTUAL LIGHTING PLEASE I’M BEGGING YOU THE ONLY THING IN FOCUS IS YOUR FINGERTIPS every other video while I regret ever learning anything

sometimes i feel bad criticizing this shit but man, as a creator who paid his dues i have every right to say that people should maybe just maybe learn the first thing about the tools of their trade. buying a $1500 camera and then not bothering to so much as watch a ten minute guide to videography is offensive

in reply to @cathoderaydude's post:

youtubers on their way to complain about the autofocus not working in their video where they sit in the exact same spot as the last 3000 ones they filmed

it's particularly wild because like, we know that probably nobody is going to notice that you switched from a phone to a $1500 camera, but even watching on a tiny postage stamp phone UI, focus seeking is obvious and detrimental. almost everyone who switches to a large sensor camera is playing themselves, it's just worse from every perspective unless you learn how to operate it properly
