i just want a computer that does what i want with feeds I decide. i dont want AI to do shit for me.

why does every tech company want to make these nightmare machines instead of just something that works

The "AI" they're talking about is a locally-run translator model (so you can translate webpages without sending your browsing habits off to another company), OCR, and other stuff that can run locally in WebAssembly and WebGPU. It's actually pretty cool.
