serious question how do you get a fucking job in this country, I've submitted like a dozen or so applications and continue to get radio silence in response. do companies even look at applications.
i am genuinely starting to wonder how much of the employment crisis in many places worldwide has to do with the jobseeking industry and standard practices completely imploding. Like it is starting more and more to feel both jobseekers and even to a degree companies looking to hire are getting fucked over by middlemen and spam (both of offers and applications)
if it's not middlemen, it's HR departments pre-screening applications using "AI", or it's their batshit insane loyalty quizzes
the only way I managed to get "a job, any job" was to walk up to a water park having an open hiring fair and say "fine yeah I'll be a parking lot attendant for an incredibly short seasonal position 50 miles from home" and that was lucky.
IT is saturated here. every job has a shortlist of 20 "more qualified" candidates ready to hop on. and I'm very much not staying in Long Fucking Island.
had I not found that I'd have been unemployed since 2020
every cent I made working that job has evaporated into unexpected expenses.
please just throw me in a datacenter or something I can lift over 75 pounds, make an ethernet cable, and know the difference between SAS and SATA. that should be all the qualification y'all need. I'm so so so so so sick of dancing around for HR robot AI pre-screening, and if I don't get a job soon my "resume" will have enough of a gap in it to disqualify me from 99% of the IT workforce
