at this point twitter exists to me as only two things:

  • an archive of the time I'd spent over there making posts (or, a tombstone against others claiming my name and content)
  • a last-ditch point of contact, and a point to contact others

literally everything else I could've done on that website I now either do on cohost (being in touch with cool peeps and posting, both funny and serious), on mastodon (reading updates and news), or I simply don't anymore (doomscrolling, constantly swatting down spambots like flies, blocking chuds, doing network analysis and deep social intelligence-gathering)

all the time I've saved by not doing the latter, I now spend enjoying the world a little more, and putting myself in position to get myself away from the people and places that hate me.

oh definitely, I know I only open it up when I'm not taking good care of myself

also I literally don't know, I'm a little afraid that there's some inciting incident that was actually serious, but I also suspect the serious incident was still just something somebody typed into their phone

the only thing i can think of is that one tweet that was like "ayyy i'm just a little guy, i'm a little birthday boy" but i'm not sure why that specifically is supposed to be a slur for transmascs or how it came to be

perhaps we are better off not knowing

I [sighs heavily] thiiiink the implication was "transmascs want to be seen as big tough men but when you challenge them they retreat into acting like tender little boys"

but idk because I want to be seen as a little nerdy guy and have lately been trying to avoid situations where posturing about my personal vulnerability one way or the other is relevant

I wonder if the community notes thing is because of the incredible grilling over how community notes function that Musk got at the deposition he had to do recently... that'd be kind of funny
