In the mid-to-late 2000s, Linux distro Ubuntu (or its parent company Canonical? unclear) would ship you install & live discs FOR FREE if you requested them. This was great because high-speed always-on internet wasn't as pervasive then (I was on dialup at home until 2007? I think?). They made discs for each release, for 32 and 64 bit x86, and also at times PPC (and if I remember correctly, Kubuntu and Edubuntu? maybe?)

Do you have any of these lying around? I want to collect them - both because a full set is a cool thing to see on the shelf, and for an eventual blog post / video about the program (hopefully). I would happily pay you $20 shipped for any discs & cases in reasonable condition! There's some jokers on ebay trying to sell them for absurd prices, but I got this one at its opening bid of $9.99 and no one else bid, soooooooo I think they are just jokers and these aren't actually valuable.

Please reach out!

Also sometimes if you didn't request them! An unsolicited box of 10? of something very similar to, if not exactly, the pictured disc showed up at my work, shipped internationally.

Somewhere in a CD-book, I've still got the official ship-it discs for - IIRC - Ubuntu 8.04 and Kubuntu 9.04. They're not terribly useful to me at the moment but I can at least vouch for them being in good shape with their cardboard sleeves intact. If you're serious about paying for these, let me know and I'll see about getting you further details, photos, and contact/payment info.
