I might write something like At SMALL scale, you can and should and really often MUST build exactly the right thing to meet the specific needs of your specific client. At LARGE scale you cannot, should not, MUST NOT try to build something so specifically tailored to one customer unless you also feel that this customer is broadly representative of all your customers (and they rarely will be). it really does not feel right on this tumblr-esque site tho maybe I do need to shake the dust off that mastadon
