an online game where instead of matchmaking you had like, just a list of games that were underway right now and you could just join one? and it could show you like, what your ping was and how many other people were in there and what map they were on, but like before you even JOINED
i know this is tongue in cheek but like developers used to be so open about this stuff even
i once emailed Dynamix because i wanted to make a server query window and ability to join games directly from mirc like the ingame Starsiege: Tribes chat let you do
and like someone (i think Scott Youngblood?) just replied to me, some complete rando teen, like "yeah buddy here's our document that just describes the entire server protocol, go nuts"
