@mattrified's not-actually-subaquatic fighting game MerFight is finally out of early access and available now on Steam, itch & Game Jolt—the amount of features and modes (and yes, they include rollback netcode) is quite staggering for what's essentially a one-person project, and the core systems strike me as particularly reminiscent of Arika's games (very liberal with cancels, simplified inputs a la FEXL, contemporary mobility gimmicks governed by pips in a manner not dissimilar to how FEXL:AD integrated former gougi gimmicks, etc) and offer a very clear pipeline towards degeneracy.

Arc System Works' battle system director and veteran fighting game sommelier Kazuto "Pachi" Sekine publicly proclaimed the early access version his GOTY for 2022, with particular praise for the game's meter/resource system and the advanced training mode features; I've noticed significantly more players from Japan and across Asia
than I'm used to seeing for western indie fighting games of this scale, and I do wonder how much of that has to do with Pachi's endorsement...

The game's 60% off right now (<$5), and there's a "demo" on itch that'll let you play online/offline versus, tutorials and training mode for free, with a 4-character roster that'll cycle every month: https://mattrified.itch.io/merfight
