its not finished yet but its fun i promise! and it has controller support (theoretically, i dont have a controller to test atm) and it has a local leaderboard feature since im gonna set it up at my nye hangout 2nite

scoot thru the suburbs on santa's sleigh, shoot presents into chimneys with a cannon, and try not to catch a cold in this thrilling single screen arcade game!!!!

I really like how the indirect movement mechanic works, but I found it a bit difficult to aim. I think I would have liked it more if the aim path would lead your shot and accurately show you where the gift will be after it is launched. As it is now, I sort of just shoot blindly as much as I can. I think if I were working on this game, I would try out auto firing if you manage to line the shot up correctly and penalize you for each house you miss.

oooh i love it. gives me Paperboy vibes kinda? i wonder if you could look at that game for some inspiration....it's been years since i've played but i feel like a lot of the obstacles were kind of common sense things that you could adapt here (e.g. birds/planes/etc with varied speeds/movement patterns)

i like when score attack games like this have some sort of combo/chaining/etc going on - maybe presents have random colors/shapes/sizes that correspond to chimneys so you get bonuses for taking your time matching them up (but you could just ignore that part if you're not going for the highest score)

also this is me being selfish but i love trick shot stuff....the most realized version of that in my games is probably Skullshot but also i made this shooter prototype in Godot a while back

also also my name suggestion is "Santa Cruise"

oh yeah i was thinkin about doing some color match stuff! thats a great idea.

in regards to trickshot stuff, i feel like the idea of bouncing presents off of other stuff into chimneys would be insanely satisfying, its just a matter of figuring out what to bounce off of / how to make that make sense...

santa cruise flows nicely....hmm....

maybe some ppl got really fucked up and weird chimneys that are like on the side of the house or something

and then the roofs are angled in a way that you can bank them into the side chimneys?

could also do something where if you shoot a larger present into a smaller chimney, it gets stuck but you can push it in with another present for get bonus points, while the second present bounces somewhere else (or maybe it just goes down with the first present)

you could probably do some fun stuff by just having the presents bounce back up if they miss a chimney (but hit something bouncy?) and then santa can hit them with the sleigh to influence them more directly. that way, the game becomes a bit more forgiving with the standard aiming (missed presents are back in play) and you can keep a combo going longer at the expense of your total present delivery count being lower and slower

hmmm yeah, i do like the idea of presents bouncing off roofs, and then you can add different shaped roofs to pull that off--those roofs can still have normal chimneys, but then if they miss potentially they bounce and hit another chimney?

the problem with trying to hit the presents with santa's sleigh is that its so hard to freakin control, i dont know if u could ever hit it the way u want

this would require another button but i would also love to give u the ability to launch santa instead of the present -- potentially for a dunk, and then u get like a billion points if u catch a bounced present in mid air and dunk with it
