Got a Meta Quest 3 2 weeks ago and yeah I was suprised to see a pretty decent number of good fun VR games that came out in 2023. I feel like 2024 will be a quieter year but hopefully not.

Its probably unfair to say psVr2 is dead already not even in a year im but looking at it as a whole 2023 seemed kinda lackluster for psvr2 games but still some fun games to play there but yeah I think even with lowered standards or expectation for VR I still would say people expected a lot more then Sony had for psvr2 even for a first year.

There are plenty of nice VR 2023 lists on you tube for quest games only on you tube it seems game sites aren't talking much of VR games. But I can list some of the cool looking ones and the ones I enjoyed. PSVR2 did get some games that were on steam and quest VR games ported to it later this year which is nice but its disappointing to see how long it takes for multiple of the cool indie VR games to go from steam VR-quest vr to psvr2. Breachers literally came out yesterday on psvr2 and its been out on quest and steam for like 6+ months already. (I did originally type descriptions for each games I listed below but after a bit there is too many games and that would take ages so just a list purely of the games sadly for now anyway lol, there are more games but I left out a lot of free to play games, app lab games, multiplayer games, sport games because a good amount of them are not a genre or type of games I care much for just from my prefrences)

Breachers- Rainbow Six Siege multiplayer like game but more arcadey and none of the stupid as fuck looking hero power shit from siege or the team killing/cheating and insane grind for base content for a paid game. Not much of a multiplayer guy but enjoying this game a lot more then I thought I would.(I am counting this since December 21th to come to psvr2 is so late in the year to come out compared to the quest and steam launch lol)

Light Brigade- interesting mix of WW2 weapons with magic and religion in a slower more tactical rogue lite fps game, the weapons feel immensely satisfying to controls and the reload methods feel very satisfying, this was on PC at the start of this year and came to quest later this year and then later came to psvr2

Asgard Wrath 2- surprised to find the best aspects of this game feels like its puzzles and combat so it actually reminded me of a 3D Zelda game sort of in that way. Feels the game was a bit obsessed with being padded at times but very fun so far 8 hours into it.

Dungeons of Eternity- this is fun and for now only on meta quest but I will say on a list I would put this near the bottom for the simple fact it has a good core combat but not enough content yet for a 4 player multiplayer dungeon crawling roguelite. Just needs more variety in room layouts/gear types and enemies/bosses and objectives but it is early access I believe

The VR version of lego brick tales looks lovely not tried it yet though myself

Inverse- I say eventually this will come to psvr2 later if it does not die off with its online player base. Bascialy like a dead by daylight like VR game but your more mobile and agile and near end of rounds if survivors last that long they unlock weapon to try and kill the monster player.

Dead Hook-

Amid Evil VR-

Bulletstorm VR originally December 2023 but now will be out early janurary 2024 so eh pretty close to 2023

BAM VR-

Assassin Creed Nexus-

Ghosts of Tabor- kinda confusing to find but basically some early access games are not officialy approved by meta yet until their 1.0 release but can be played fine on a meta quest through app lab without a PC which this game is that case.

Battle Talent-

Outta Hand

Cubism

Shootout

Deemo Battles-

Dropdead The Cabin VR

Sushi Ben VR-

Killer Frequency

Call of the sea VR

Survival Nation

I expect you to die 3-

Stride Fates

Guardians Front line- Halo mixed with starcraft and bits of starship troopers 4 player with mod support too

GunJam VR

BattleBows-

We Are One

Broken Spectre-

DYSCHRONIA: Chronos Alternate Episode III- VR visual novel anime weeb like game

Genotype

Mecha Force Free App Lab multiplayer game

Mind Set

No More Rainbows

Power wash simulator

Retropolis 2: Never Say Goodbye

Snow Wars

Stack

Survivor man VR The Descent

Tea for God

Vail Vr

Yupitergrad 2: The Lost Station

Also quest like psvr2 although at a quicker pace it seems then psvr2 got a good amount of ports of steam VR 2022 games but somebody can just look them up online if they want to know those games like red matter 2, propagation paradise hotel came out on may 2023 for meta quest but then October 2023 for psvr2, into the radius 2 is maybe due 2024 in early access and yet into the radius 1 is not on psvr2 now still and came out on quest in 2022 etc.

Have you played all these games, Slimy? o_O I was asking what games you have played you really liked.

I guess some ports came later because PSVR2 released this Feb and devs had to learn the tricks of it, but could be so many other reasons. A lot of weird stuff with PSVR2.

Anyway, I have planed a write up of the first year with the PSVR2. Wanted to wait until feb, but been itching to do it for a end-of-year thing so sooner than later =)

Oh right my bad lol, I own a good amount of games on that list but not played much of them because I got distracted by Breachers and Asgard Wrath 2. I have such a large VR game backlog now lol, this year was weirdly generous for a lot of indie game VR bundles for relatively good cheapish prices.

Killer Frequency-only played a tiny bit but its really neat but if you only have console VR you can play the flat screen version

Dungeons of Eternity- fun combat but needs to cook with more varied content before its properly worth trying I would say

Light Brigade- came to psvr2 later eventually, highly recommend it satisfying gun controls and reload methods and bits of interesting lore and a fun slower tactical take on a rogue lite fps game.

Asgard Wrath 2-Figured this would just be a pretty but bland empty dull game but the real highlight is actually the games combat and puzzles which was a surprise, tiring game to play in longer sessions although that's not a outright complaint lol.

Breachers- Already said in post but good fun highly recommend this one, could do with a few more maps but it has a decent umber of maps and is actively getting more maps slowly, fun more arcadey but more grounded and tactical take on a rainbow six siege game

Shootout-cool idea but similar to dungeons of eternity too early now but not bad so far still,4 vs 4 multiplayer game capture flag or elimination, main mechanic is you can swap and match up to 4 weapons on your hands. It is a cool idea and works nice but I wish it was limited to dual wield the same weapon on either hand. You can add different modifiers to different guns but I want to do stupid shit like laser gun and shotgun on one hand and a rocket launcher and sniper on the other hand or something.

No More Rainbows- real fun plat former again not a complaint but its very tiring in longer sessions, it uses what people call a movement system for a platformer like gorilla tag so you moves your hands around to climb and move.

Deadhook- the dev has most liekly abandoned this and there are plenty of other much better rogue lite fps options but I thought this was decent fun the grapple hook mechanic is a lot of fun.I would recommend this on a sale but not if your only interested in playing say one or two rogue lite fps get the better ones first.

Deemo Battles- this will come to psvr2 early next year thankfully, fun shorter take on Deemo, not much else to say but the shorter matches is a better fit for a VR game really imo. $20 launch price is pretty generous/fair too for a VR game imo

I have a good number of other games bough ton this list but not got the time to try them but I will give them a go soon. I heard Synapse is pretty cool I recommend you give it a go if you have not! That and Breachers, Vertigo 2.

I think what makes the most sense is Sony where dumb and gave indie devs dev console versions of PSVR2 way too later hence why its taking them longer to port their console that or because I guess maybe since PSVR2 is still technically a console maybe it s a bitch to port indie vr games to consoles.

Yeah a PSVR2 list would be nice!I feel like I must be missing more worthwhile 2023 indie or smaller studio PSVR2/steam exclusives that their was but I can't really find them after a quick look.

Not too many games that got my interest on that list, really. HAve looked at Light Brigade, but just not my style.

Synapse is sweet actually. Not my style (DUH), but oddly addictive...

Hope to see more info from Sony around the one year window.

I'll get to the "review" now that I have some days off.

I wonder about PSVR2.
I know there's Horizon and the Resident Evils and those may be temporarily exclusive, I think I heard ... but I don't think I've heard of anything else.
Not that I heard of specific stuff on PC but I see people using chat VR and whatnot and it feels like it's a "stable" platform. It probably helps that you don't have to buy all new hardware and games because the generation has changed arbitrarily and there's no backwards compatibility.

That's the two cents about VR from a person who doesn't care about and knows nothing on the subject. Thank you for reading !

Gran Turismo is supposed to be amazing in VR. If they supported the ps4 starwars rogue squadron game. Can’t think of the title I would have bought it for those two games.

I believe they kicked themselves with no ps4vr bw support.

The way they have no support for ps4 vr games even just playing them with no ps5 enchantment son ps5 is truly bizarre and limits their game library to a pretty large ridiculous degree. I think one or two indie game vr devs said they tried to work on a free ps5 vr version of their ps4 vr game but Sony would not allow that at all.

We don't know the sales for it, so hard to say anything before the actual numbers. Not dead, at least not yet. But so far it's not as bad as people want it to be.

I didn't get the PS5 before after a year for obvious reasons, so can't reall tell, but got PSVR2 on day one and have had a blast ever since.

As far as I can recall the only other worthwhile psvr2 exclusive is Synapse and that's kinda it. It got firewall ultra remake but 4 months later the studio is closing down and the game flopped.Crossfire seemed to be received pretty mixed by people and that's mostly it bar the VR ports of ps4 games and Horizon Zero Dawn VR which just seems like a alright game. I guess I will be fair and add Vertigo 2 which came out on psvr2 a few days ago and will never come to meta quest (devs said this).I feel like their must be more exclusive games even counting games that are only on steam and psvr2 but thats honestly it fr what I can think of it at least see for now.
