Furious 6 ends with Elena Neves arriving at the Toretto home in Los Angeles aware she is pregnant, but not yet showing. Fate of the Furious involves her kidnapping, along with her then-infant child. In between, the following events take place:
- Han moves to Tokyo, starts hanging out with Yakuza-connected teenagers, and joins their operation to run his own hustles.
- Letty Ortiz returns to Los Angeles to begin recovering her lost memories
- Deckard Shaw begins hunting down the team that nearly killed his brother Owen Shaw.
- Mr Nobody recruits Han into international espionage on the recommendation of the late Giselle
- Lucas Black wins a race against one of the kids from Home Improvement
- Han recovers the geodesic Project Ares ball for Mr Nobody, and takes 11-year old Elle as a sort of foster child.
- Anticipating his faked death, Han sends Dominic Toretto a postcard, meant as a cryptic hint to find his safehouse years later.
- Jakob Toretto goes rogue from The Agency. He may have already been running various international criminal organizations, filling power vacuums left by his brother's actions.
- Deckard Shaw gets Han's location from a partial download of Luke Hobbs' files at DSS.
- Han begins mentoring Lucas Black in both drift racing and organized crime. None of his contacts or friends are aware of Elle.
- Letty Ortiz attends Race Wars in an effort to uncover lost memories. She punches Hector in her disorientation.
- Mia Toretto learns she is pregnant with a second child, and is unsure what to say because of her husband's seeming addiction to life-or-death action scenes.
- Deckard Shaw interrupts a Tokyo street race to assassinate Han, timed to be simultaneous with a mail bomb sent to explode the Toretto home in Los Angeles.
- Mr Nobody anticipated this, and managed to get Han out of the burning car in a way that fools Shaw and the world at large. Han lives in secrecy, preparing Elle for life among the shadows and superspy action.
- The third act of Tokyo Drift.
- Dominic Toretto arrives in Tokyo to collect Han's effects, and speaks with Lucas Black.
- Deckard Shaw cases Han's funeral in his quest to kill Toretto and his team. Mr Nobody recruits them to do a heist in exchange for assistance in getting Shaw off their backs.
- The further events of Furious 7.
- Deckard Shaw is placed in a black site prison.
- The crew spends a day on the beach in the Dominican Republic, watching Brian and Mia, her pregnancy now showing, play in the waves with their son.
- Dominic Toretto and Letty Ortiz travel to Cuba for their honeymoon.
- Owen Shaw's injuries recover to the point he can use a jet pack to intercept a plane at cruising altitude.
- Elena and her unnamed son are kidnapped.
And that's not even mentioning how by the time Little Brian is around 4, Elle has aged at least ten years.
