The Dance Macabre was a popular theme of illustrations in the middle ages and Rennaissance as waves of plagues, wars, religious schisms and horrific social inequities tore through Europe. Death was portrayed as a skeleton beckoning people of all statuses, from peasants to clergy to royalty, to join its gruesome dance.
It's super unfinished obviously but I don't really have time to go deep into this much work right now. I don't know if I'll ever come back to this but it was great fun to make!
